These notes were created with Tineke's notes open in front of me, so they are heavily influenced by her notes. Shoror dances involve a swaying of the body. Shatag is a region which used to be inhabited by Armenians. It is now in Modern Turkey, near Lake Van. Tineke learned figure 1 at the Choreographic School in Yerevan, she added figure 2. Music : Hayastan Armenian Dances. van Geel Records Meter : 2/4 Formation : Open Circle Hands in pinky finger hold. Start in "Debka" hold (Facing LOD, L hand in small of back, R hand holding person in front of you's L hand) Introduction : 8 bars no action "Bounce" here means to bend and straighten the knee. These notes were created with Tineke's notes open in front of me, so they are heavily influenced by her notes. The name of the song and dance is a man's name. Tineke learned this dance from Liudvig Poghosian on a folk dance tour in 2007. The dance is part of the shoror family. Music : Barev-Armenian Dances. Tineke van Geel. Meter : 6/4 counted with two major dance beats (123)(456). For the purposes of these notes, I'm notating it as two dance beats per bar (1,2) Formation : Tineke's notes say closed circle (when Tineke taught it to us, however, she did it as an open circle. Hands in pinky finger hold, but with forearms held parallel to the ground with a bent elbow and hands pointing forward. Leads R Introduction : 2 bars no action, start with singing. These notes were created with Tineke's notes open in front of me, so they are heavily influenced by her notes.  The dance is from Trabzond, which is now in Turkey. The dance was choreographed by Tineke based on traditional steps she learned in her field work.
